We are a Group Practice

Mona Osterhoudt, LCSW,  Birdsong, LLC

Hello, cousins!  I consider myself an Urban Indian, Indigenous daughter of the Creator, ehhhhh….

I grew up all over New Mexico, I am a tribal member of Jemez Pueblo, and my maternal grandmother and grandfather were from Santo Domingo Pueblo.  I have lived on or by various reservations in New Mexico, Arizona, and South Dakota.  I have been married for 28 years, I have two adult children who live in Colorado, I have various pets turtles, cats and dogs, and any other animal that I find on the way.

If you need help managing all the stressors that life keeps throwing at you, I am here to help untangle it. Sometimes we lose focus on what makes us happy, I'd like to help you find your happy place again.

I specialize in Cognitive based therapy, we address the negative narratives that play out in your thoughts that can negatively affect how you manage your day-to-day life. I am also providing group therapy for Anxiety for adults and teens, and group therapy for Caregivers of patients with Dementia.

Everyone has those periods in life where a little help is needed. I am here to get you back on track.  I provide in-person therapy and telehealth.

Oki! I am a Blackfeet tribal member and a descendant of the Karuk tribe. I grew up with the awareness and practices of my Blackfeet traditions. I have worked in education for 8 years and mental health for 18 years, with 5 years experience as a licensed therapist. Understanding historical trauma and intergenerational trauma affects on my own family led me to returning to education to enhance my clinical skills to best serve the Native and BIPOC community. In 2014, I completed my MSW with a focus in family development and a certificate in trauma. In order to better understand the local Native community and the nations they serve, I took a position in education directly with Native American students and their families in community and educational settings. In 2018, I became a licensed therapist and began serving those with mental health and wellness needs as a therapist.

My areas of expertise are working with children and adults who are experiencing trauma-related responses. I have experience working within the Native and BIPOC communities serving those who have had grief, loss, anxiety, depression, family issues, and school-related issues. I am familiar with historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, lateral violence, racial trauma, and organizational trauma responses. My approach is client-centered within family systems and using culture as a strength through cultural resiliency. I love using our tradition of storytelling as a form of healing. I am certified in EMDR. I provide in-person therapy and telehealth. I look forward to connecting with you.
